GROUNDING ELEMENTS OF EARTH

GROUNDING ELEMENTS OF EARTH

iStock-619636624.jpg

Spring is here and the time to reconnect to the earth is now. After a long, cold winter our bodies crave and depend on the Earth Element for grounding. Because we are made up of mostly water and minerals, our bodies become conductors of electricity! When our bare feet come in contact with the earth for more than 30 minutes we are able to absorb electrons that float along the earth’s surface. Electrons in the body act as antioxidants, aiding in anti-inflammation, chronic pain relief, sleep patterns restored and reducing stress.

This is why a walk along the sea shore, or running through a grassy field in our bare feet leaves us feeling restored and renewed.

Also, connecting the souls of our feet to the earth elements creates a steady mind that is patient and persistent.

In terms of energy patterns of the body the Earth element is found in the base of the spine, rectum, bones and immune system (First Chakra). In other words our foundation.

In terms of the emotional poles of energy, when the life force is stagnate it becomes fear and when the Shakti is flowing through the Earth element it is realized as courage.

The Earth element, when balanced within our bodies creates a true grounding affect to the here and now.  We become present of mind and spirit.

The best way to stay connected to the Earth’s primal elements, when the weather is not conducive, is a foot soak with heated river rocks, Himalayan salts and marine algae mud mixtures. This highly mineralized treatment restores the body’s natural frequency pattern and is practiced by many cultures as a way to raise ones consciousness during meditation.

I believe nature will never mislead us. We are all a part of the larger understanding of Earth. Reconnecting to Her is ultimately a connection to our primal instinctual self.

CHOCOLATE HAZELNUT COOKIES WITH HIMALAYAN SEA SALT

FullSizeRender (7).jpg

These cookies are my family’s favorite! They have a very sophisticated taste.

They are super easy, fast baking and come together in less than 15 minutes. I usually whip them together when we need something sweet to eat after a nice dinner together. And like most good Italian kitchens we always have Chocolate Hazelnut spread in the cabinets.

Yield: 12-18 cookies

Ingredients:

1 cup chocolate hazelnut spread

2 tbsp. brown sugar

1 egg

¾ cup flour

Coarse Himalayan Sea Salt

Method:

Preheat oven to 350F

In an electric mixer with the paddle attachment, combine hazelnut spread, brown sugar and egg.

Mix on low speed until blended.

Slowly add the flour and mix just until a dough is formed

(Do NOT over-mix)

Scoop cookies onto a cookie sheet tray lined with parchment paper.

Top each with a sprinkle of Himalayan Sea Salt.

Bake for 10 minutes.

Cool cookies before removing from sheet tray. (They usually don’t make it to a plate).

ENJOY!

HIMALAYAN DETOX BATH

HIMALAYAN DETOX BATH

Sole Bath

Unlike a normal bath, in which water is extracted from the skin, the Sole Bath allows salt to be stored in the upper callous layer of the skin and binds water. This maintains the natural protective film of the skin while, balancing the pH factor. The cleansing effect of a 30 minute detox bath is equivalent to a three-day fast. The toxins are released into the bath water, while the minerals from the dissolved salts are absorbed through the skin. This reduces the acidity in our body and eliminates skin-irritations.

The Detox Bath holds the potential energy of the ocean, as if bathing in the primal sea. As your body’s organs begin to resonate with the natural energetic frequency patterns of the Sole Bath, bioenergetics deficits are rebalanced and weak links are strengthened. The natural regulatory mechanism of the body and its self-healing powers are reactivated.

The 84 trace minerals present in the original Himalayan Crystal Salt have properties that include creating and promoting healthy cell regeneration, pH balancing, skin permeability and elasticity, moisture-retention and protection from allergies and infections.

How to Prepare a Sole Bath

Pour the entire bag of Himalayan salt (just over 2lbs) into a bath tub and add just enough water to cover it until it is fully dissolved. This should take about 10 minutes.

Fill the tub with water (98.8F).The temperature is important because the body needs to be in a state where it will absorb the minerals, any warmer and the body will sacrifice its own energy to balance out the surrounding temperature.

To create a Sole Bath a concentration of 1% Salt is needed. The formula for a 1% solution is 1.28 ounces of salt per gallon of water. (Most tubs have a 28-32 gallon capacity).

Soak for 20-40 minutes.

When finished, pat dry with a towel and rest for at least 30 minutes.

ROOT CAUSE

ROOT CAUSE

At Breathe Spa & Soak we believe each woman has a unique constitution and brings with her the root cause of any mind, body or spiritual issue. To understand this we must first understand that there is a life force energy that travels through all of us. This energy travels in a very specific pattern, through subtler spheres to physical form, and in this process our uniqueness is formed. As therapists we gather clues from the health of the skin. The color, texture, elasticity and any “irregularities” tells a story of the overall health of the person. Our skin becomes then a projector of our internal world. As John Donne wrote, “A Province packed up in two yards of skin.”

We begin to see that any imbalance on the skin takes shape from a deeper process that originates within. Therefore our thoughts, emotional life, nutritional and physical practices shapes our body. Blockages and imbalances in the energy flow are ground down and are then projected out onto the skin in a very specific pattern. Like reflexology, where points on the feet and hands are correlated with the rest of the body, the facial skin and the skin of the body shows a direct link to the internal organs. To take this a step further, in understanding the energy patterns of the body, one must understand that each organ holds a psychological and emotional energy. In some instances, addressing our belief systems and releasing the emotional issue associated with those beliefs will bring the skin back to its balanced state.

That is why skin issues cannot always be answered with a jar of cream, no matter how amazing it is. The root cause should be addressed first. Having a practice of meditation, yoga, nutritional awareness and the physiological and emotional effects of therapeutic touch would all contribute to healthy skin.

The important point here is that the potential for health and wholeness is always present, our skin is communicating with us. We need only to listen.

At Breathe Spa & Soak we love our Himalayan Body Scrub recipe that we use in our professional treatments, a mixture of the purest, finely ground Himalayan Salt Crystals mixed with a Marine Body Oil and the perfect amount of an Anti-Stress Essential Oil blend.

What You Will Need:

  • ½ cup of Finely Ground Himalayan Salt (Highly detoxifying and re-mineralizing)
  • 6 Tbs. of Marine Body Oil (Emollient, elasticizing and reparative)
  • 2-3 Drops of Anti-Stress Essential Oils (Calming and Relaxing)
  • Small Wooden or Rubber Bowl with wooden Spoon.

Place Himalayan Salt in Bowl and add Marine Oil and Essential Oils. Mix with a wooden spoon. Scoop into hands and begin to work over skin.

Note: Please be careful not to slip if applying the scrub while standing in a shower.

Recommendation for use:

1. Apply to warm, wet skin in a circular upward motion, focusing on rough dry areas. Feel the salts melt into your skin. Rinse and pat dry with a towel (Do not rub dry). This treatment releases congestion in the tissue and intensely stores moisture, revealing soft glowing skin.

2. For a deep peel, apply body scrub mixture to skin as recommended above. Then, lie down on, and wrap yourself with, large warm towels. Cover yourself with a blanket to keep your body warm. Let your body absorb the mixture for at least a half hour. You will star to feel a slight warming affect to your body. Rinse with warm water and pat dry with a towel. (Do not rub dry).

This has an intense detoxifying effect to the body, similar to a three day fast!

WHAT IS A SOLE?

Comment

WHAT IS A SOLE?

Sole (So-lay), which comes from the Latin word “sol” meaning sun, is a mixture of water and Himalayan Salt.

When water combines with the Himalayan Crystal salt, the negative poles of the water surround the positive ions of the salt, while the negative ions in salt are surrounded by positive particles of the water. The energy of the sun potential is released into this new form.

An energized element. This makes water not water, and the sea salt not sea salt anymore. The elements have liberated themselves from their restrictions, given up their polarities, and reached a higher form of energy. When the water gives up its own identity, the sea salt is separated from its crystal structure which divides the sodium from the chloride. With both elements in an ionized state, they release their stored energy. The crystalline structure of the sole is so profound that its vibration pattern can last up to 24 hours in our bodies! This is why a daily, morning drink can be so beneficial.

Here are some of the amazing benefits of Sole…

  • Supplies the body with a natural energy that can last up to 24 hours
  • Sole is effective in balancing irregular heartbeats
  • It harmonizes the alkaline/acidity balance in your body and normalizes the blood pressure
  • It dissolves and eliminates sediment deposits which can lead to stones and various forms of arthritis , kidney and gall stones
  • Vital to making the structure of the bones firm. Osteoporosis , in many ways, is a result of salt and water shortage in the body
  • Helps to clean our lungs of sticky phlegm and excess mucous, as well as a cleaning of our sinuses
  • Sole is vital to the nerve cells and the communication process of our cells
  • Helps the absorption of food particles through the digestive tract
  • Drinking sole aids in the prevention of muscle cramps, and helps with sleep regulation. Sea salt is a natural hypnotic.
  • Vital for maintaining sexuality and a healthy libido
  • Natural antihistamine that helps you breathe better
  • And many more!

How do I make Sole?

  • You will need pure Himalayan Crystal salt.
  • Place the Himalayan Crystals in a glass container. About the size of a small mason jar will do.
  • Add the crystal salt to the container, just enough to make a layer across the bottom.
  • Then add clean mineral water to about 3/4 full. Make sure not to use tap water, or flavored water, any good bottled water will work too.
  • Cover the container with a lid, and let sit overnight.  If the crystals have fully dissolved, add more crystal salt. Keep doing this until the water can no longer dissolve any more salt, and the crystal salt remains on the bottom of the jar. At this point the water has reached 26% salt saturation. You now have Sole!
  • Each morning, before eating or drinking anything, add one teaspoon of the Sole to a glass of pure spring water. Your body will receive the energetic vibration pattern of the sea salt and hold it for 24 hours.

Note: Make sure to keep your container covered to prevent the water from evaporating and any dust from getting in. Other than that no special storage is needed.

This Sole solution will literally keep forever! Salt is a natural anti-bacterial and natural fungicide. It simply cannot spoil, or go bad.

LOVING KINDNESS MEDITATION

LOVING KINDNESS MEDITATION

Developing loving-kindness

Metta bhavana is a Buddhist tradition of meditation that teaches us to be kind and gentle by cultivating a positive relationship first with ourselves and then the rest of the world. The commonest form of the practice is done in five stages, this is stage one…

  • Close your eyes, grounding yourself on your seat. Make sure you are fully supported and present.
  • Become aware of the breath, and just breathe slowly and deeply. With each breath allow yourself to become more deeply relaxed. With every breath feel the beating of your heart.
  • After a minute silently call your name. Remember to breathe.
  • After another minute say to yourself, “May I be happy,” then breathe and acknowledge how this feels. Then say, “May I be well,” then breathe and acknowledge how this feels. Then say, “May I be kind towards my suffering,” then breathe.
  • Allow yourself to sit in stillness with whatever arises. After a few minutes say, “May I cultivate more kindness within my heart. May I cultivate more peace within my heart, May I continue to develop and grow.”
  • Continue to recite these phrases, leaving a minute or two between each, staying connected to the beating of your heart and bringing compassion to whatever arises.
  • After ten minutes bring the practice to an end.

If our hearts are full of love and kindness for ourselves, there is little room for anger. Such mental states may arise, but love and compassion is the healing salve that soothes our suffering.

THE HEALING POWER OF AWARENESS

Comment

THE HEALING POWER OF AWARENESS

To live in the present moment and resist the impulse to project into the future or ruminate over the past, I believe, is the secret to a happy life. But I also understand that peace in our lives is not possible unless we heal our pasts.

As a body worker for more than 3 decades I have seen first-hand how the past, and our beliefs about ourselves, can manifest physically. As women we are constantly receiving messages from our bodies of how we need to heal, but we need to understand the messages that are being communicated.

As young girls most of us are taught that being good is more important than challenging authority. The problem with being good is that it never nurtures our inner spirit. It actually cuts us off from knowing; it cuts us off from our ability to act. We learn to dim our light so we don’t come off too overpowering, so that people will give us the acceptance we never received as children. I have seen that if a woman is part of a culture or family that doesn’t support her in learning to connect to her authentic subtler energy, her life force, then her ability to connect with her instincts and spirit are diminished.

Learning to honor these instincts, and the messages they bring, can very well save our lives. The more ridged the body the more isolated and cut off we are. We have forgotten who we are, we feel separate and in that forgetting a great emptiness arises. In a desperate attempt to reconnect and feel worthy we attach ourselves to our egos. Vacillating between feeling worthy and worthless. This unbalanced energy in the body is ground down and is crystalized as illness.

The question becomes then, how do we reconnect with our authentic selves to promote health and well-being? Aligning the internal and external sides of our being so that we may resonate with our true light is the way.

Meditation does this. Experiencing our true selves in meditation and placing our healing intentions into the unbounded awareness helps us to become whole again. We are giving ourselves permission to heal! We quite literally become the light we are seeking, and attract to us the people and things that will support us on our journey.

I believe feeling unworthy is at the root of most illnesses. I have seen it time and again of how the energy patterns of the body communicate this suffering to us, from subtler skin irritations to deeper dis-eases. Our bodies are crying out, “You are worthy of Love and belonging!”

One of my favorite quotes In The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is, “If you believe yourself worthy of the thing you fought so hard to get, then you become an instrument of God, you help the Soul of the World, and you understand why you are here.” We are all worthy of this profound Love! When we give up our ego identity and reclaim our instinctual nature as women we know ourselves as we truly are.

We are complete.

With Love,

Marie
